Semiquincentennial
The semiquincentennial marks 250 years since the founding of the United States, a milestone that invites communities to reflect on the nation’s history. In Cornwall, the Fourth of July celebration takes on special meaning as residents honor both local heritage and the broader story of American independence. Through traditional festivities, remembrance, and community gathering, Cornwall’s celebration connects past and present, highlighting the town’s enduring role in the American experience as the country approaches its 250th anniversary.
Then & Now Faire - April 19
Come tell your story in participatory demonstrations and displays on Sunday afternoon, April 19, at Sands-Ring Homestead. Together, we can shine a light on Cornwall’s local history and national highlights while celebrating the amazing groups, traditions, and people that have made our town such a vibrant community today. Join local schools, performers, athletes, historians, environmentalists, artists, youth groups, seniors, businesses, the faith community and other groups or individuals having fun while bringing our shared history to life. Experience historic times and learn about their current counterparts.

Our all-volunteer Cornwall Independence Day Committee can’t do it alone. We need volunteers- JUST LIKE YOU to make our 4th of July celebration a memorable event for the community! Why not donate a couple hours on the 4th? Shifts are short (most are 2 hours) and you can select the EXACT time and task you wish to volunteer for. Why not sign up with a few friends for the same shift?
